Training students to be teachers and teachers to be students
900-Hour Yoga Therapy Certificate Program
IAYT Accredited Program
The Surya Chandra Healing Yoga School Yoga Therapy Certificate Program is based on and honors the teachings in the lineage of Krishnamacharya and Mr. TKV Desikachar. This program is built on the standards set by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and upholding those set by the Yoga Alliance for 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teachers. SCHYS is pleased to announce that this program has received accreditation by the IAYT.
This program is broken into three steps of 300-hours each.
Step 1: Introduces students to the concepts and tools of Yoga Therapy, establishing the framework students will use for the remainder of the program. Graduates receive a 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate, and may be eligible for Yoga Alliance's 300-hour Registry (RYT-300).
Step 2: Advances the concepts and tools of Yoga Therapy - focusing on the use of Yoga Therapy to treat structural issues. Students begin to work with individual clients (under close supervision of their Faculty-Mentor), using the tools and knowledge learned thus far. Graduates are considered Apprentice Yoga Therapists.
Step 3: The final step prepares students to use all the tools of Yoga therapy in the treatment of more complex body-mind-spirit imbalances. Students continue to work with individual clients (under looser supervision of their Faculty-Mentor), using all the tools and knowledge learned throughout the program. Graduates are Certified Yoga Therapists and may apply for C-IAYT status with the IAYT.
This program utilizes many different educational formats as methods for learning - including weekend program modules, online classes, practicum, faculty mentorship, and residential retreats.
